Thinking of moving to Nakhon. Advice please.

Post by wensdazechyld on Sat Apr 10, 2010 7:42 am

Hi forum users.

I'm thinking of applying for a job as a teacher in Nakhon. However, I've never visited (never even been to Thailand) and so would like your honest opinions on the place, the people, the average school working conditions and pay. At this point, I've been teaching in England for 8 years but have never taught abroad. I keep hearing about what a lovely place Thailand is and so am thinking it might make a nice change.

Any advice / opinions shared greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

wensdazechyld

hello there

not sure how you came across nakhon but if you're thinking of applying for a job in thailand, go for it. for government schools the academic year starts in may so that doesn't leave you much time. thailand is a wonderful country and even if you only stay for a year it will be an experience you'll remember for a very long time. one thing though, don't burn any bridges back in your home country and always leave options open in case you want to return. plus the weather is nicer here!

I'm guessing if things carry on in Bangkok as they are you may find it even more difficult to recruit Brits ;)

Seriously though, if I can find a school with the right pay and conditions, Thailand is number 1 on my countries of choice....

there are many things you have to consider when talking pay... Depending on lifestyle that you want and what you have... Are you going here to save up some money? (stay home)... Going here to enjoy yourself, c'mon...

You can live nicely on 30000b a month, but dont expect 5 star life...

Ask direct questions and it will be easier to answer you and help you...

NST iS A NICE BUT QUIET PLACE.... (admin loves capitals)
