Pink shirts now joining the party!
A large number of people wearing pink shirts, including tour operators, gathered at the entry to Lumpini park on Friday and issued a statement calling on protesters on all sides to adhere to peaceful means in promoting their cause.
Led by Pol Gen Vasit Dejkunchorn, former deputy director-general of police, and Charas Suwanmala, dean of the faculty of political science of Chulalongkorn University, they swore an oath before the statue of King Rama VI to protect the nation.
They signed a petition opposing a House dissolution and constitutional amendments aimed at whitewashing a particular individual, not furthering the country's best interests.
The pink-shirts for the Network for Peace also issued a statement calling for protesters and their leaders to remain peaceful and avoid use of violence, provocation and threats against others who hold different opinions, and to respect other people's opinions.
There was a brief commotion when they exchange verbal abuse with the red-shirts of the United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD), who travelled past the Rama VI statue on their way to the United States embassy on Witthayu road.
The gathering ended about 3.30pm.
