Post by Gold member on Mon Jan 11, 2010 4:14 pm

Hospitals
now this should be a good topic..
in Nakhon which is the best one to go to for treatment and why?

and if not nakhon where would the next best place be??
i gather bkk and Phuket is the first choices but they will cost more than other places.

I personally wouldn't trust any of them in this town.

I've been to them all in town, Nakarin being my favourite. Maharat I think has the best selection of doctors but it is like a cattle market there with patients sleeping on trolleys in the aisles. The new Nakhon Pit or whatever it is called past Tescos has a good name but any hospital that has a outdoor waiting room loses it for me. I registered, waited, sweated my knackers off and then went back to my tried a tested Nakarin. The army hospital is like a morgue (no pun intended). Each time I've been there there seems to be very few staff on duty. As for Nakhon City, my father in law went there for a couple of eye operations and he seemed quite happy with the service there.

The Bangkok group, with hospitals in Samui, Hatyai, Phuket is good. They took care of me in Samui and I have had a couple of medicals at the one in Hatyai. Nice friendly professional outlook but they can work out quite expensive if you like being fed through your nose!

Admins shows his wisdom... You got answered on that one...
I would think that it depends on what is wrong with you... Mike accident, Maharat hospital... Sick- not terminal Nakharin...
Gunshot wounds and knife stabbings- Army hospital or Maharat...
It also depends on the time of the day you get hurt/sick.... At daytime, as admin suggests.... At nigth time, only Maharat hospital (they do have the doctors there, even if it looks bad)...
knock on wood, I have never had the need for hospitals here in NST...

nakrin & nakonphat hospital is always full . Both are very economical compared to private hospitals in Trang or hadyai or phuket.
was stumped when they charged 100 baht for consultation in nakonphat (pregnancy) some time ago. bumrungrad in bkk charged me 6000 + the last time i had flu .(inclusive of xray, nose digging, pills).

maharat is a shock. it is a good hospital but the sight is very very ?? amazing thailand !!! dogs & cats running in and out of the hospital ??

Still Maharat is the only hospital in Nakorn with the most doctor and most well equipted. ( like said, minor problems, nakornpat or nakrin. Major problems- maharat or if you can afford to travel, go somewhere else)

i had many visits to hospital during my 5 years here in nakorn.
own accidents, denggue fever, staff accidents, making testtube baby, etc.
The one that impress me is still private hospitals in Bkk. They have models as nurse, Handsome men for the general outpatient aND old skilled docs for the complicated. ( Some are young, good looking and very skilled thai doctors. much better that those that i met in my own country)
