Sithammarat School is closed

Post by Admin on Wed Jul 22, 2009 10:22 am

Because of this 'flu' that is going around, Sithammarat School has been closed, for how long, I don't know. Is it worth it? Just how effective is closing a school in the battle against this sickness?

Is your school open or are the powers that be starting to panic and they're busy padlocking the school gates closed as we speak?

Closing down schools can help. The WHO just released advice today saying that it could reduce infections by 15% - 40% depending on the severity of the problem. They suggested countries to look into closing schools as a preventative measure depending on the circumstances of the country. The way students are tightly packed into overcrowded classrooms in Thailand would suggest that Thailand might well benefit from the measure.

Kanlayanee School will NOT close!

Post by Snowflake on Wed Jul 22, 2009 10:54 am

Two reasons why our school is NOT going to close before the end of the month...

1. The Crown Princess will be here on Thursday to survey the decapitated poet outside our office...

2. It is our school... (We don't close)...

I personally hope that we will not close becuase that is time we will have to catch up later, maybe in March, when we are supposed to have vacation, we have to teach longer...

(If cleaning schools will help, maybe the Thais should think about learning to clean stuff... Dirty water on a dirty floor with a dirty broom is not going to make it clean, it might look clean, but believe me, its not). It is probably making it worse!
