Requests for Thai phrases/translations

I've included this thread so that anyone wanting to ask for a specific translation or phrase can do so here with out interfering in Jay's language lessons.

So, if you have a specific request, not associated with one of Jay's lessons, put it in this thread.

How do you say in Thai? - 'None of your business'

I believe it is ..... Mai chai tu-ra kong khun

"tu-ra" means "duty" really, so you certainly can say "mai dai pben tu-ra kong khun" but it's a little formal and not so strong.
I found a better way to express the strength of the English version would
be "mai chai ruang kong khun" - it's not your story - or even better
(if serious)
"pben ruang suan tduwa" - it's a private affair
do be careful though as they are all fairly aggressive, non Thai ways of
expressing feeling. Better would be to smile and give some weak, non
committal answer, such as "mai ruu ruang" - don't really know about it.

Is there a similar 'Would you .......?' in Thai.

I know 'dai mai?' which is can you but is there a more polite way of asking for something?

Can you do this? V's Would you mind doing this?

To increase the level of politeness in a sentence usually you would use prefixes and suffixes: a prefix comes before a word (like retro / un/ pre in english) and a suffix comes after (iness / ingly / dly in english) so the normal, straight, way of saying (for example) "wash the dishes for me" is: "laang jaan hai pom" but a more polite way would be to combine a prefixc and a suffix: "chuwai laag jaan hai pom noi"

If, on the other hand you are asking if it is posoible then yes, use "dai mai" but DO NOT use "noi", they cannot be used together:
"chuwai laang jaan hai pom dai mai?" is a very polite question, already in the upper realms of politeness by the very fact you phrased it as a question not a command.

If you are intimate with somebody (as a friend, not just a lover) then you can add more familial terms to soften the request:
"Chuwai laang jaan hai pom dai mai na jaa"

but by now you are close friends... anyway, being polite in thai is easy, just use nice words

I reckon know that phrase pretty damn well already.
Anyway, in answer to your "question" i would say:

"wanee wan suk leow pom ja pbai moa" - that simple

Nah, not at all ...... I know a fair bit of Thai but my grammar/vocab is still a long way from being perfect, hence the question.

Anyone ..... 'taa kung ying' .... (relating to a zit on my eyelid)

taa kung ying literally means: eye shrimp shoot. It is slang and it means that your eye has a sty . It means that they think you do not have a zit (spot) but an actual infection in your eye.

Was talking to the Mrs ...

She said that when a man gets Taa kung ying, it means in Southern Thai folklore that the man has been looking at either another woman or he has seen a part of a woman that he shouldn't have seen. I got an unwanted eyeful the other day and the following day had Taa kung ying.

Best idea - keep your eyes closed!

With regard to "taa kung ying" I had one over the weekend....has died down now...

One thing though...i don't recall seeing any ladies of interest or any part of them lately so that superstitious reasoning goes out my window...

As for black cats....plenty of them around.

And lest i forget...Admin...i think I kniow what you're referring to....and boy it was an eyeful.....Was it approximately 3 weeks ago at the Bulldog Tavern?!?....hair was flyin' around....

I think the Guru is very busy at work these days, so he might not have as much time as he wants... He will be back soon, once he has sorted out some work and R&R...
