drain (as in the noun not the verb) - tor naam
tap (noun) - gok naam
blocked - tdan "The drain is blocked" - "tor naam tdan"
bleach - haiter (pronounced - haitdeeeeerrrrrr)
wash clothes - sak par
iron clothes - reed par
washing service - sak ob reed

Never give up guys
handy hint: tell
teachers at school you are learning and use it as an excuse to become
closer to them both socially and personally. Ask them to help you
pronounce these words and see where the conversation takes you (you may
learn a lot more). Use the vocab here as an excuse to talk to the
teacher you've had the hots for all year; the lesson with provide the
teacher with a valid "reason" to be seen with you in a more intimate
way than normal and help them relax. Diligence is a highly valued
character trait here and you will find teachers start talking about you
in more glowing terms than ever. Believe me, it works.

What about simple sentences, for example:

Can I do the washing up/ironing/sweeping/cooking (please?)
Who is doing the washing up/ironing/sweepingcooking?
Can you do the washing up/ironing/sweeping/cooking (please)?

Pom laang jaan hai khun dai mai? (washing)
Pom reed paar hai khun dai mai? (ironing)
pom tam kwaarm sa-aad bahn hai kun dai mai? (clean the house)
Pom tam aharn hai khun dai mai? (cook)
You can change these simple requests which, litereally mean "MAY i do the.... for you?" to "I WILL do the ... for you" by adding "ja" and removing "dai mai"
eg:
Pom ja laang jaan hai khun.
Pom ja reed paar hai khun .
pom ja am kwaarm sa-aad bahn hai kun .
Pom ja tam aharn hai khun .
Who is doing the washing up/ironing/sweepingcooking?
Krai ja reed par? (do the washing / cleaning etc)?
Krai jaa tam aharn?
Can you do the washing up/ironing/sweeping/cooking (please)?
Polite requests of this sort can easily be constructed by starting with the word "Chuwai" (to help) and ending with "Noi" which is a diminuitive polite request particle. eg:
Chuwai, laang jaan hai pom noi.
Chuwai reed par hai pom noi.
chuwai, tam aharn hai pom noi.

Right, I've looked at these and think I have the structure but one thing that's confusing is the word 'hai'. Does it mean 'for'?

Eg: Pom ja laang jaan hai khun
Pom = I
ja = will
laang = wash
jaan = plates
hai = for?
khun = you

In this sentence yes, Hai means for.
Hai is a major grammar particle and as such has many usages in many different ways.
Literally, Hai means "give". But can mean allow, for, make or in the direction of doing.
I will dig up an old lesson i have on the usage of "Hai" and give it its own thread (in total i remember 9 distinct ways of using Hai so it deserves further explanation).
All the other words in the sentence are spot on, good translation.
