Elephantitis...of the testicles???

Post by The Teabagger on Sat Jul 03, 2010 12:21 pm

I've got a friend who helps teachers get jobs. Of course, he has to deal with the new work permits for the new teachers. He's at a private school and some stuff is the same. For example, men must wear suit jackets in their photos. However, about the medical certificates, only a syphillis test is needed at my school which is a public school. Check out what might be OR ARE the new requirements for a private school:
Medical certificates. Up to yesterday the medical certificate requirements were pretty basic. It was a quick trip to the hospital or clinic so they can check if you are breathing and a charge of about 70 Baht

1. From now on they require a new kind of certificate. I am still waiting for some final details but anyone who hasn't yet got their work permit or hasn't submitted their documents please hold back on the medical certificate application until the details have been finally confirmed. If your documents are already in I think you will be OK, but I will confirm. We do have the details but I am waiting for some translation on the kind of diseases they will be checking for.

This certificate will cost between 300 and 600 Baht and must be obtained from a hospital and not a clinic.

They will now be checking for the following

1. Alcohol abuse
2. Drug use
3. Syphilis
4. Lung conditions
5. Skin problems
6. Elephantiasis

When I got my job at the Uni I had to do a full work-up. It consisted of x-rays of the chest, blood work, checking of urine and stool and an eye test. Got this at Maharat hospital and cost was about 800 baht.

Why are they so interested in our health conditions? I could understand it if they provided free health cover with the job, but as most don't it seems a pointless exercise.

So Mr Jones, I read here you spent 6 years in prison for child abuse. we would not normally take people with a criminal record, but I see you have very good health so when can you start?
