WP -syphilis

I learned today that if you change schools and try to get a new workpermit you now have to test yourself for syphilis... Invasion of privacy, sure, but do  you want the workpermit???
Many reasons to argue that there is no need for the Government to know what STD's we have but then again, can we really fight it? Before it used to be the mother of one of our students that was the head of the workpermit office, that has no changed so we are toast over here... Lucky I do not have to check myself!!!
Funny thing is that my boss (sweet as she can be) claimed that many more foreigners had it than Thais (Thai men does not have unprotected sex and are incapable of getting any STD's)...

If only everywhere else was as perfect as this country. Never met a bunch of more xenophobic people in my life. Their heads are so far up their own backsides that they don't seem to realize that there are indeed other countries/people on this planet we share. Blame anyone but themselves. - head in the sand syndrome!

Who actually does the testing? is it like the medicals required for a teacher or driving licence?
What happens if you test positive?

You have to go and get the test done by yourself, at a hospital... It costs 150B so no extra tax... 
It is a requirement to get the work permit, nothing more... Take the test, get a WP, do not take the test, find another school that can change the rules... We can't anymore...

so you take the test, and test positive..... still get the WP? if so, whats the point?

They'd do better checking up on valid degrees and criminal records than running a campaign to say "our teachers are good for safe sex"

someone somewhere will be making money out of this, thats the only reason ANYTHING gets changed.

Guess it is important for the parents to know that the teachers are into safe sex with their students!!! 
Seriously, cant see the problem with taking the test... unless you are hiding something... Stay on topic or it will get locked people...
