Thai Fire Department

Post by Snowflake on Fri Feb 05, 2010 9:14 am

Has anyone seen these guys in action? I have seen them hanging (yes) off the pick ups racing through Bangkok... They are just insane...Anyways, last night/this morning I saw them again here in NST, I have seen them once before (I like to follow these guys when I am on a motorbike) at Hua It, but this time just next to my house (2 min walk)... 2 fairly modern fire engines and a saggy old pick up with several people on board... All of them were fairly clam and none of them looked stressed out... Ofcourse the family whose house were burning/next to the burning place were a bit more agitated... They impressed me, I never heard them coming, just saw the lights and decided to have a look at what was happening...Few questions, where are these guys training? What kind of salary do they get? Where do they get their equipment? What number do you call to get them to come to your house? (could be a fun conversation to listen in on)...  PS. for all of you that wants to know, they are located behind the PTT station close to Robinson Ocena...

Sounds to me like they use the same weak as pi$$ sirens as the cowboy ambulance drivers. You never hear those hooligans coming either.

I never heard that they were coming was a refrence to last night... I doubt that they had their sirens on... I have heard them in daytime and that is quite loud!
