So it's really easy to slip up in Thai and say something you didn't intend to. What's your best one? If this topic has been done already elsewhere, apologies.

I used to tell people that a lot of dogs testicles (instead of snow of course) fell on Scotland during the winter season. They're laughter was lost on me until i found out why they were laughing. Most people could laugh about it but were too embarrassed to explain my erring ways.

Myself included here - there are a lot of foreigners here who have been here for quite a few years who can't really hold a proper conversation in the Thai language. Yes, we can order beer and food and you know how to say LM Daeng at 7/11 but how much of a real conversation could you hold? There is only a handful, I'd even say only a small handful of foreigners here who can.

But, if we were in our own countries and there were a lot of 'immigrants' who couldn't speak our mother tongue, I'm ...

Again, i'll try to keep it sweet and simple and then if any questions arise answer them then.

P.S - Shark Bite Bickle is good on health words (for some reason - what could that be?)

once again, i wrote a super long, super detailed explanation only to have my connection fail and lose it all. So... here we go again.

Classifiers are a little confusing for most and to be honest are really an intermediate, not beginners issue, but it does require some explanation for those serious about the language.

sorry for my absence, been a little snowed under lately. I did post this recently but my battery died just as it was uploaded.

As normal use this thread to ask specific questions about shopping and the other thread for non related queries. As always, am open to suggestions about what to post.

Hope it helps - shopping is a pain in the backside for most of us (except admin who learned to ask for beer on his 1st day and never needed any more again - lol)

hi all, I've been asked to put some basic Thai lessons on the forum as a way of helping new (and not so new) members of the Nakhon community. I was asked to start simple (which is easy for me as simple is an adjective often associated with me - in the medical sense).

I decided to put simple classroom commands for my very first post as most people here are teachers. Please keep a few things in mind when trying to read this type of "Romanised" Thai script:
